What is Spring Home Decor?
Before jumping into these spring decorations, I think it can be helpful to define the key characteristic of spring decor. This aesthetic focuses on brightening your home decoration to reflect the vibrant energy of the season. Think of pastel colors, references to blooming nature, and lighter textures. The focal point is creating a more airy and cheerful atmosphere.
Spring design elements also embrace natural materials like wicker, rattan, jute, and wood. They are often paired with plenty of greenery – plants, herbs in the kitchen, fresh flowers. Most brands will also include in their spring collection new arrivals for textiles and outdoor decor. After all, this season is all about opening up your beautiful home to the exterior both through visual references, as well as by using natural lights and seamlessly blending interior and exterior spaces.
Now the you have a clear idea of the environment we are trying to create, let’s look at 10 spring decorating ideas for the home to give you all the inspiration you need!
10 Spring Decor Ideas For A Fresh Look
1. Replace Your Throw Pillows
My favorite way to upgrade my living room with seasonal decor is by replacing throw pillow covers. They are inexpensive, natural focal points in the space, and can easily transform the look and feel of a room.
If you want to approach spring decor in a traditional way, look no further than beautiful floral patterns. Especially embroidered pieces will be perfect to add variety of color and texture to your sofa or bed. Alternatively, you can opt for a more subtle reference to the season going for a beautiful pastel color or an elegant spring-time design.
2. Add Some Spring Elements To Your Coffee Table Decor
Your coffee table decor is another great spot for seasonal decor. Adding a few small pieces can help set a theme for your design without spending too much time or money on the project. Of course, these ideas can also work well for your foyer table or nightstands.
Options for spring decorations include: a cute bunny statuette for a quirky detail, a new tray to ground your composition, a beautiful coffee table book, or a classic ginger jar. You could even display a few easter eggs in pastel shades using a silver or wicker bowl. Get creative and focus on the details!
3. Include Some Floral Patterns
“Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” I know Miranda Presley’s words were the first thing that came to mind when you read that title. However, bear with me. Fresh flowers are one of the most beautiful aspects of this season, making floral and botanical prints a must-have for spring decor.
You can go all in with a large area rug or simply use them to spice up predominantly white decor. If you’re afraid of having florals overtake your living spaces, use these patterns more sparingly, as accents. For instance, opt for a new set of coasters or a linen tablecloth for your dining table. I promise you won’t regret it!
4. Add Fresh Plants in Beautiful Pots/Vases
Live plants and fresh greenery can help you add an organic and colorful touch to your decor. This is especially great if your decor already includes plenty of natural wood. However, I fully sympathize with the expense and maintenance fresh flowers and plants require.
As someone who loves the beauty of them but cannot keep a thing alive, I encourage you to reevaluate faux plants and faux flowers. Nowadays silk or latex pieces have an extremely realistic look and feel. Artificial flowers can be a bit more expensive than real plants upfront but you’ll be able to enjoy them for a long time to come and pull them out again next year!
5. Replace Your Wall Art With Seasonal Elements
Replacing your wall decor throughout the year is a great idea if your interior design taste relies heavily on accent pieces. Using art to redefine a space is one of my favorite things, and doing so for the spring season can be so fun!
You can go for a 3D floral composition or a gorgeous textile piece. For something less “on-theme”, look instead into colorful prints and DIY your own gallery wall. For some Easter references, you can even pick a few pieces with elegant and modern Christian designs.
6. Incorporate Spring/Easter Table Decor
Adding a touch of spring to your dining room table is an easy way to integrate easter decor into your hosting. Think of a bright but delicate color scheme, colorful glassware, fun placemats, cute tablescape accessories, and floral table runners. These pieces will make your table come to life with a new energy!
7. Swap Out Your Curtains
Giving your room an airy feel can have a huge impact for your spring decor. Consider swapping out heavy, winter curtains with a set of linen, light pieces to make the most of the spring sunshine. This is a great way to introduce a new natural fiber in your space, as well as to brighten up your home.
If you do need to keep black-out curtains, opt for more delicate and spring-like colors. Some of my favorite options are light blue and sage green. A dusty pink would also work well for a vintage space.
8. Add New Scents To Your Home
Spring is the perfect time to replace sweet and heavy holiday/winter scents for lighter and more fresh fragrances. The best way to do is by upgrading your scented candles. Explore floral, citruses, and herbal scents to make your home smell elegant and delicious!
9. Refresh Your Outdoor Spaces
As the days become longer and warmer, you’ll likely start using your outdoor spaces more and more. Whether it’s your front porch seating area or seasonal garden decor, make sure to refresh your home exteriors. All you need is a cute patio set and some new planters for a fresh set of flowers.
If you regularly host in your backyard, consider also upgrading your outdoor kitchen to make the most of it during the upcoming season. You can find here some of my favorite tips to help you design an outdoor kitchen that is as functional as it is beautiful.

10. Upgrade Your Front Door Decor
When it comes to outdoor living, your front door is one of the first spots you can upgrade with spring decor. The easiest way to do so is by hanging a beautiful wreath. Depending on your preference and your home’s style, you can consider spring wreaths, floral wreaths, or even twig wreaths for something more minimalist. If you love to switch things up, opt instead for a wicker basket and fill it weekly with your fresh flowers of choice.
